Goals for music therapy will vary from person to person. Music therapists are trained to assess, develop, implement and evaluate on a case-by-case basis.
Common goals include:
Developing expressive and receptive communication, articulation, and vocabulary
Improving cognitive functioning and attention skills
Reducing anxiety and stress, and promoting emotional regulation
Enhancing social skills, building relationships and trust
Improving physical skills such as fine and gross motor coordination, balance, and gait
