Common Goals.

Goals for music therapy will vary from person to person. Music therapists are trained to assess, develop, implement and evaluate on a case-by-case basis.  

Common goals include:

  • Developing expressive and receptive communication, articulation, and vocabulary

  • Improving cognitive functioning and attention skills

  • Reducing anxiety and stress, and promoting emotional regulation

  • Enhancing social skills, building relationships and trust

  • Improving physical skills such as fine and gross motor coordination, balance, and gait
